Nationality: East German
Affiliation: Theatergruppe Straße
Thomas is Lise Hohenstein’s father, from East Berlin. One of Theodor dead father’s distant relatives, he adopted him from an abusive orphanage.
Thomas founded Theatergruppe Straße as a director in 1966, and slowly gained popularity for works such as “Erinnerungen eines Mädchens” and was eventually being placed in the newspaper for "Mond-Regenbogen" in 1978, a controversial play viewed as anti-nationalistic. After being forced out of the industry and ostracized by the government who accused him of inciting dissidence, Thomas and Marlene became central figures in an asylum plan involving members of the theater and friends in the West who were antagonistic to East Germany.
