Gansaku Nanbu is Joe's boxing coach and manager. He is a known gambler with a drinking problem.
He and Joe used to work in the underground boxing scene, making Joe throw fixed fights to earn cash. However, deep down he believes in Joe's abilities, and after having to pay off the large debts he had accumulated from betting on dog races, he decided to sign Joe into Megalonia to attempt to win the tournament and the cash prize.
